وتدور أحداث الفيلم في القرن
السادس عشر حين يقرّر الإمبراطور المغولي الطَموح والساعي لتوسيع حدود
إمبراطوريّته في الشرق، الزواج من الأميرة الهندوسية "جودا" ، بهدف إرساء
دعائم تحالف سياسي مع مملكة الراجبوت الهندوسية القوية.

وسرعان
ما تتحوّل الأميرة الفاتنة ذات الذكاء الحاد من مجرّد رقمٍ في معادلة
"أكبر" السياسية والعسكرية، إلى حبٍّ جارفٍ يغيّر شخصية أحد أشهر أباطرة
المغول، وأقواهم نفوذا، وأشدّهم حنكةً.

ويُذكر
أن قصة الحب التي جمعت "جودا" و"أكبر" قد ألهَمت -على مرّ العصور- العديد
من الفنانين والأدباء، فكان أنْ تحوّلت إلى رسومات ومنحوتات وروايات
وقصائد، أسهمت كلها في مزج الحقيقة التاريخية بالأسطورة الخالدة.
